Center Stage

Two Free Dana Leong Shows in NYC and Washington D.C.

Multi-instrumentalist and composer Dana Leong fuses hip-hop, jazz and electronics to create a signature hybrid sound. Artfully commanding cello, trombone and laptop, the Asian American artist of Chinese and Japanese descent is breaking down artistic and cultural boundaries, collaborating, inventing, recording, touring and garnering critical acclaim along the way.

The Dana Leong Band just completed its whirlwind Asia tour for the Rhythm Road Program, sponsored by Jazz at Lincoln Center and the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. To celebrate their return, Jazz at Lincoln Center is presenting two free Dana Leong shows in Washington D.C. and New York City. For more information on these two shows, please see the Events section below or simply log on to www.danaleong.com.

Gossip, News & Randoms: What’s going on with Asian and Asian American artists?

MUD - As a fixture of the San Francisco music scene since 2001, MUD has developed a strong loyal following of fans addicted to the band’s heavy guitar riffs, infectious melodies and collection of high energy pop songs, that draw comparisons to successful crossover bands like Blondie, Green Day, and Jimmy Eat World. Signing with San Francisco indie label Talking House Records in Fall of 2006.

MUD spent most of 2007 developing material and crafting the perfect sound for the first full length album Yearbook, which is scheduled to be released on April 15th, 2008. To celebrate the release of their brand new album, the band is hosting an official CD release party/show and it will be sponsored by imeen.com.
