Goh Nakamura Launches Ulysses

Goh Nakamura is a San Francisco, Bay Area based musician who writes ditties about parking tickets, impossible crushes and faraway dreamlands. With one foot in the traditional troubadour world and another in the digital age, he performs at venues small, large, and virtual, to an enthusiastic and ever growing audience. A fortuitous 2007 feature on YouTube's front page brought his music videos over a million views and earned him a huge new fan base from all over the world.

He is set to release his new effort, Ulysses, on Wednesday, August 20th, 2008. Along with the release of the album he is hosting a album release party as well for the lucky folks that are going to be in San Francisco, California. For more information on the album and the show, please visit www.gohnakamura.com.

Gossip, News & Randoms: What’s going on with Asian and Asian American artists?

DJ Shy - She was the first female mixer at the No. 1 top 40 radio station in America, 102.7 FM in L.A. This station with over 2.6 million listeners each week features Ryan Seacrest as morning host. Shy has spun at all the top clubs in the world, from California to Asia and back. She kicked off the 2006 Bud Light-MAXIM Exposure Tour. In 2007, She traveled nationwide for the Nocturnal Tour spinning at 80 events with Playmates and reality stars of Beauty and the Geek. In 2008, she went on tour traveling aboard Princess Cruises spreading her sounds throughout the Caribbean.

Now she has hooked up with a new group, Nylon Pink, with Kaila Yu as the lead singer and Kitt.E.Katt on bass guitar, they have just introduced Shy as the DJ of the group. For more information on the new group and DJ Shy, please log on to www.dj-shy.com.

Emm Gryner – One of ImaginAsian Radio’s favorite artist from north of the border in Canada, Ms. Emm Gryner, has been making some serious moves since her debut. Her song, Almighty Love was pointed out by Bono of the supergroup, U2, as one of the song in the last 20 years that he wished he has written. She is currently hosting a show on CBC Radio with fellow singer/songwriter, Danny Michel. In addition, she even has a designer tote bag named after her by Canadian designers Matt and Nat.

You can witness the phenomenon first hand. Emm Gryner is scheduled for a slew of shows from Canada to Europe. So for those that have not seen her do her thing live, please make sure you go and catch at least one of the many shows she has lined for the month of September. For more information, please visit www.emmgryner.com.
