March is Misnomers Month

Since they formed Misnomers two years ago, Knewdles and Sos have performed over forty live shows from Philly to NYC, made national television and radio appearances, and recorded their self-produced debut album. The sisters commit themselves to building their unique sound and vision, and sharing their hip hop and themselves with those who are open to good music.

For the month of March, Misnomers are coming out of hibernation in full force. They are gracing their fans with four shows - yup, you heard us right, four shows. Three of these shows are within a span of four days! Looks like they're winning the award for the hardest-working band in hip hop. For more information on these shows, please see the Events section below or simply log on to www.myspace.com/hiphopmisnomers.

What's going on with Asian and Asian American Artists

Gossip, News & Randoms: What’s going on with Asian and Asian American artists?

The Speaks - A young, talented, and charismatic five-piece band from the Washington, D.C. area, The Speaks are completely redefining the global image of rock music – shattering stereotypes, making believers out of naysayers, and acquiring legions of new fans. From rocking crowds of over 25,000 people to gaining major radio support, The Speaks are easily shaping up to be one of the most exciting, talked-about rock bands to hit the music scene in years.

Recently ImaginAsian Entertainment, Inc. tapped their song "High" to be featured in their "Your Voice, Your Choice” PSA – a get-out-and-vote initiative aimed at Asian Americans. Now they are at the SXSW music festival and will be playing at the WJFK concert at the Hard Rock Cafe to kick off St. Patrick’s Day. For more information, please see the Events section and please log on to www.thespeaks.com.

Bayadera - Three time O.C. Music Awards winner Bayadera is a melting pot of musical styles, backgrounds, and experiences. They represent and reflect our diverse society today, focusing on our common urge to seek a middle ground. Primarily rock-based, Bayadera combines strong grooves à la old school R&B with splashes of Latin flair and modern digital nuances.

The members of Bayadera continue to hone their craft in their sophomore release, Rotation of the Earth, due out March 18th, 2008. Full of hope, loss, love, and a need for change, this album embodies our current state of affairs with engaging, foot-tapping music and catchy hooks. To celebrate this release, they will be hosting a huge album release party on March 20th, 2008. For more information on the album and the release party, please see the Events section below or visit www.bayadera.com.

Woody Pak - Throughout his many collaborations and projects, Woody struggled with his identity as a musician as he wrestled with his seemingly "chaotic" musical approach. With one foot consistently planted in film music, Woody continued to work for commercials, musicals, and classical, pop, hip hop, and rock projects, but he always found himself happiest composing for films.

This month, two highly anticipated Asian American documentaries that he composed are coming out: American Zombie and Planet BBoy. For more information on Woody Pak and these films, please visit www.chaostheoymusic.net.
