Nivla and P. Oberoi Officially Signed to Interscope Records.Judged by Industry heavyweights such as Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, Soul Tap Records artists, Nivla and P. Oberoi made it to the Top 3 with their hit song Be Easy (Koi Naa). Even with everyone’s support, they did not top the list with votes and therefore their video did not make it to the Super Bowl and they were not able to perform for billions of people during the halftime show. However, the support was so overwhelming that it raised the eyebrows of the Interscope Records executives and we here at ImaginAsian Radio are proud to announce to you that Nivla and P. Oberoi has officially been signed to Interscope Records, home of Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent and more hip hop heavyweights. Interscope Records is also releasing their first single, Be Easy (Koi Naa) on iTunes. For more information, please log on to www.nivlamusic.com. Gossip, News & Randoms: What’s going on with Asian and Asian American artists?Kollaboration 8 - Kollaboration is an annual event and movement created by a small group of professional young Asian Pacific Islander Americans/Canadians, volunteering their time and skills to celebrate the vast talents of their community and hopefully bring them into the mainstream. Their slogan, Empowerment through Entertainment, holds true to their mission. This year guarantees to be another great show with special guests and judges; Tiger JK, Yul Kwon, DJ Shy, Woody Pak, Michael Kang among other special guests. For tickets, scheduling and lineup of performers and special guests, please log on to www.kollaboration.org. The Slants – They are currently riding high on the emerging popularity of their debut full-length, the tongue-in-cheek titled Slanted Eyes, Slanted Hearts, an album full of new wave, synth, pop, and danceable rock, all with an Asian flavor. The album has catchy hooks and smooth harmonies. The "Slants army" has been coming out in the thousands, with scheduled appearances in the near future for audiences of 12,000 plus. They released the news that they are giving their fans a chance to win an autographed Fender Squier Hello Kitty Guitar, in conjunction with Sakuracon and Shojo Bear Magazine. All you have to do is log on to www.theslants.com/guitargiveaway, no purchase necessary and you can also find the rules and regulations at www.theslants.com/guitargiveaway/rules.php. Scott Tang - His debut solo album, Late Night Drives, was released independently in July 2005. ChopBlock.com gave it four stars, recognizing that “there’s something overtly genuine about these songs, emanating the kind of enduring soul that many pop artists wish for just a small fraction of. “Late Night Drives” is sparkling contemporary pop music with a rare kind of purity and verve.” Now Boston Progress Radio has posted the contents of his iPod and his brain for all of us to see, under their Shuffled! archive. Please support both Scott Tang and Boston Progress and log to www.bprlive.org/2008/02/07/shuffled-scott-tang and check out what Scott is listening to and what he is thinking and leave a message to show your support.
