Center Stage

The ImaginAsian Center Launches in Downtown L.A.

The ImaginAsian Center (www.iacenterla.com) is L.A.'s premier Asian American theater and cultural center, dedicated to first-run and classic Asian and Asian American films. Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles at 251 Main Street, The ImaginAsian Center is newly renovated, providing state of the art projection and sound technology in a comfortable, contemporary atmosphere. The ImaginAsian Center is the perfect venue for feature films, special screenings and events, film festivals, live performances, rental, as well as satellite-fed events and exhibitions.

To celebrate the launch of The ImaginAsian Center, you know we have to top the launch of ImaginAsian TV in L.A. a while back. This time, we've enlisted the help of some of ImaginAsian Radio's favorite performers: Natalise, Tina Sugandh, DJ Shy, The Battle Monkeys, and Venice Koshin Taiko Drummers. It will take place on Saturday, December 1, 2007 and you'll be able to catch it on ImaginAsian TV in the near future.

Gossip, News & Randoms:
What's going on with Asian and Asian American Artists

Gossip, News, and Randoms: What's Going on with Asian and Asian American Artists?

Sub Swara - We all know about the crew. They have rocked spots all over the world, from New Delhi to New York and back. They've taken up residency in New York City for a couple of years now and they have recently moved on to the LOVE Lounge. There, they still continue to tear down the spot each month. December will be no different, although the crew has a few tricks up their sleeves.

They will be ending the year with a bang, by featuring artists who cross borders as ambassadors of bass. These musicians will touch down at LOVE on a special first Saturday edition to celebrate an amazing year of sound and community. Special guests include Stereotyp and Maryanne Hobbs. Also, Sharmaji is now an official resident of Sub Swara and will be teaming up with Dhruva behind the decks. For more information, please see the Events section below or simply visit www.subswara.com.

MUD - Their raw guitar riffs, heavy bass grooves, and depth in song writing resonates a diverse collection of melodic, hard-edged, and energetic sounds. The result is a blending of punk's energy and incredibly catchy, concise and singable hooks. Their infectious sound has invited comparisons to successful crossover bands like Green Day and Letters to Cleo.

MUD was recently selected as one of 20 bands to compete in the Live 105 Not So Silent Night '07 contest. They need your help to make top 5 by this Sunday, December 2, 2007. It's super easy; just go to www.imeem.com and sign up for an account. It only takes a minute! Listen to the new track Father Christmas and "RATE IT". You can even add it as your favorite. For more information, please visit www.mudsf.com.

Five Points Mission - Unfiltered. Uncensored. Unpredictable. The FIVE POINTS Variety Hour is one of the liveliest show in Manhattan! Each show features an eclectic mix of music, hip hop, poetry, comedy, trash talk, and spontaneous insanity! It's more fun than the Neverland Ranch!
We haven't featured New York City's Chinatown staple for sometime now. So we figured that there was no better time to introduce new subscribers to this open mic night. It takes place every Friday at the Silk Road Cafe on Mott Street; and it is open to everyone. This week, it takes place on November 30 and will spotlight an up and coming band, Blue Dayzie. In addition, the event will also feature Ol Soul, Marvin Kwong, Elizabeth Jalondoni, Jon Siapno, Eve Campbell, Matt Daly, Hogwild, Margie Kment, and more.
