Center Stage

Vudoo Soul's East Coast Tour Kicks Off

With an unstoppable resilience, sharpened by a childhood on unforgiving streets, Vudoo Soul took matters into his own hands to establish himself within the music industry. Despite unlikely circumstances and a lack of any prior knowledge of music, he quickly became self-taught as a pianist and songwriter. In the process, he developed a keen resourcefulness and relentless optimism in his hustle as music's underdog.

It's the FIRST official tour that he's had since beginning of his professional career about three years ago. Granted, he has done many performances around the country in quick succession, but this time it's really something special. His band has been spending weeks preparing the entertainment experience that he has always dreamed of giving his fans. Vudoo Soul will be performing at UNC-Charlotte, UNC-Chapell Hill, DC, PA & New York. If you are in any of these cities, please go and support the man. For more information, please see the Events section below, or visit www.myspace.com/vudoosoul.

What's going on with Asian and Asian American Artists

Gossip, News & Randoms: What's going on with Asian and Asian American Artists?

Jupiter One - Jupiter One's fresh sound breathes new life into stale stereotypes of indie rock. Born out of an urge to create mini-orchestral pieces, Jupiter One is devoted to producing well-designed rock. Since 2003, the chemistry of its five individual members has expanded the boundaries of songwriting by incorporating new textures, creating a new aural experience with each song.

They are the newest band to be featured in the ImaginAsian Radio Newsletter and soon, you will be hearing their music on ImaginAsian Radio (www.imaginasianradio.com). They are currently signed to Cordless Recordings, under the Warner Music Group and they are destined to make it to the big time. For more information on the band, please visit www.jupiteronemusic.com.

Franki Love - What more can we say about Franki Love? She has won tons of awards for her talented song writing. Then there's her, CD Momma, her crazy interview on the NUZ 'n NAK Hip Hop Hour on ImaginAsian Radio, and her performance on ARTV Awards in Las Vegas' Palm Resorts.

Now you can check her out in her latest interview in WWS Magazine . She offers a glimpse into her career and the local music scene in Venice Beach, CA. Also, you can vote for her exclusive feature in the magazine and listen to her single, Shadow. For more information, please visit www.frankilove.com.

Ken Oak Band - This band has been tearing through shows like there's no tomorrow, touring to promote their new album, Venice to Vienna. Now they are being recognized for all their hard work. Just read their album's review by Alice C at 91.7 FM, Houston.

"Using the cello as a bass and lead instrument, Ken Oak Band is nothing shy of an acoustic dreamscape. The two members in the band layer their vocals surprisingly smoothly on their second album with rhythm guitar and dark cello beats. This album is basically everything you'd expect from a cross country acoustic tour. It's hearty and brooding, and it squeezes the heartstrings. The album starts off with two listen-up tracks, and equalizes itself as a pleasantly steady acoustic set. (Reminds me of a fresh Rocky Votolato or Iron and Wine.) They actually stop by Rice and play gorgeous sets behind the RMC when they're in town. Playlist, and support."
