Center Stage

Center Stage – The Return of The Hip Hop Hour with NUZ ‘n’ NAK

The duo was missing in action for sometime now. We have no idea where they went and when they were approached with the question about their whereabouts, they became very defensive and aggressive, so we decided to leave it alone. But the good news is that they are back in the studio and are as flavorful as ever.

They mentioned that they have a slew of interviews coming up with mainstream and Asian American hip hop and R&B artists and exclusive in-studio freestyles and more. So if you haven’t tuned in to The Hip Hop Hour with NUZ ‘n’ NAK, they are on daily from 3-4pm (EST) ONLY on ImaginAsian Radio, www.imaginasianradio.com.

Gossip, News & Randoms: What’s going on with Asian and Asian American artists?

Karate Rice – The Karate Rice phenomenon was featured on ImaginAsian Radio for the past year and they have moved on the bigger and better things. They keep up the tradition by bringing you the craziest and most outta control Japanese punk bands. They have two upcoming shows this week in New York City. If you have not been to one of these shows, be prepared to be mesmerized.

These shows will be on back-to-back days. We would opt for the double, but if you are busy, at least come to one of the concerts. The first show will feature Swinging Popsicle and Love Etc. The second one will highlight Saketola, The Wellington Ladies Welfare League, Gelatine and East Coast Scammers. For more information on these two shows, please see the Events Section below. To find out more on Karate Rice, please log on to www.karaterice.com.

BTP – Remember a while back, ImaginAsian Radio Newsletter broke the news that the Orange County hard rock group, Burning Tree Project, was holding open auditions for a new drummer via YouTube. Here at ImaginAsian Radio, we had no idea that they never landed a drummer. But we have been noticing that they were still playing gigs.

Hmm… So, you are asking, who the heck has been playing drums for BTP this entire time!?!? We got word from the band that their good friend, Dave, has been dedicating his time and efforts to the band’s good cause and has been filling in for the drummer vacancy. We suggest that you check him out at HERE. For more information on the band, please log on to www.burningtreeproject.com.

IBU – The trio is on a straight rampage. First, they sing the National Anthem for the Chicago White Sox. Next, they have a tree named after them at Mt. Apo Nature Park, at the foot of the Philippines' tallest peak. They are also ambassadors for Human Development International, and endorses the "Call to Save the Mountains of the World”.

Now, the band has made it to the third round of Famecast’s Show the World Your Talent competition. All you have to do is log on to www.blog.myspace.com/ibu and click on the banner to vote for the boys. Here is the kicker, IBU will send you a free mp3 of a song off the “Redefined” album when you vote. Hurry! Voting ends June 27th, 2007.

Kevin So – A last minute addition to this fine newsletter, an open casting call for a new play based on the music of Mr. Kevin So. Please see below for the description.
One Foot Productions is currently casting a new musical, Victor Woo - The Average Asian American, Music/Lyrics by Kevin So. Auditions will be held June 20th & 21st 2007 by appointment only. For consideration, please send headshot & resume submissions to casting@victorwoo.com. For more information on the casting, please visit www.kevinso.com or www.victorwoo.com.

This past week, NUZ from the Hip Hop Hour attended the One Year Anniversary show for Jammin’ Asian in NYC. He relayed to us that it was an awesome show and that Alfa looked amazing. Also, this week NUZ will be attending the crowning of this year’s Penthouse Playmate of the year, we’ll be sure to get the scoop from him. Lastly, this Friday, Kyoshi Graves will be in the studio for his first interview with ImaginAsian Radio. Please keep your ears clean for the interview.
