Bambu and Kiwi of Native Guns Pursue Solo Careers

Native Guns consists of California-bred, Filipino MCs Kiwi and Bambu who have been working together since 2002. Combining their passion for music & word with their love for community, and their commitment to turning the system upside down, Native Guns' fearless mix of hard-hitting beats, machine-gun lyricism, and unapologetic critical content continues to captivate audiences nationwide.

Both Kiwi and Bambu will focus on solo albums as well as collaborations with other artists, allowing them to continue developing their art form and grow as individuals. Bambu's second solo album "...i scream bars for the children..." was released on April 29, 2007 and is now available in stores and online. Kiwi will release his mixtape "Summer Exposure" in June, followed by his yet-to-be-titled sophomore album late fall 2007.

Gossip, News & Randoms:
What's going on with Asian and Asian American Artists

Fusing Naked Beats – DJ Asif expresses a whole variety of different types of musical styles. Influenced from an early age by traditional Asian music and its rhythms to learning the guitar and playing in a punk band and then moving on to experiment with hip-hop and electronic music. Asif crafted his sound with exploring his Eastern culture with that of the West. The multicultural factor helped create limitless musical possibilities that could be incorporated from other world cultures in his productions to create new exciting sounds.

The new album, Witness of the World, features some very special guest artists including General Levy, Shahin Badar, Mehi, Sandhya Sanjana, Houria, Unnati, Turi, Mic Assassin and many more. Witness of the World has a unique electronic landscape which blends many diverse elements into one cohesive and unifying experience. From eastern electronica to uplifting global house, reggae, Arabic and Indian beats fused with hip-hop, D&B rhythms and funky dance baselines. IBU – IBU’s uniquely rich harmonies and outstanding dance skills quickly earned them the distinction as Chicago’s most sought after Asian-American performing group, a hype they made sure they could keep up with. Now on its 5 th year, IBU continues to make headlines, thrusting itself more and more to the forefront of the mainstream music scene.

A "Tinikaran" tree was planted under the IBU name at Mt. Apo Nature Park, at the foot of the Philippines tallest Peak. IBU is an ambassador for Human Development International, and endorses the "Call to Save the Mountains of the World," an initiative endorsed worldwide by UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, His Holiness the Dalai Lama of the mountain kingdom of Tibet, President Gloria Arroyo of the Philippines, and other world leaders, celebrities and institutions.
