Center Stage

Dana Leong

Dana's sound is a fusion of computerized electronic hip-hop funk rhythms and rock propulsions. While playing the cello or trombone, Dana also uses his laptop onstage to integrate electronic soundscapes.

It is a rare occurrence when one person is equally successful in two completely different arenas. Dana Leong is remarkably active as both a renowned cellist and a powerful and articulate trombonist. This New York City transplant learned both at an early age under the tutelage of his mother, Sumi Nagasawa.

Mr. Leong has recently completed his debut album, "Leaving New York, which features his original compositions, and guest appearances by Christian McBride, and 8 time Grammy winning clarinetist Paquito D'Rivera.

Gossip, News & Randoms:
What's going on with Asian and Asian American Artists

Home is where the heart is. Especially for Cynthia Lin. The new video of her song "Home" can now be viewed on her MySpace page.

While we are on the subject of home, the Visionaries will be celebrating the launch of their new site upabove.com with a CD special. Which includes tracks from artists such as: LMNO, Writer's Block, 2MEX, Kev Brown, Supernatural, Sleep, DJ Numark & Pomo aka Blendcrafters, Declaime, DJ Rhettmatic, and more!

Fairly quiet as of late, the Ken Oak Band has been emerging out of their shell. To see more of Ken Oak Band go to their MySpace page and catch a video of their interview with TV K.

Dengue Fever is offering their fans a limited time offer to catch them at the Seattle's Music & Arts Festival. They'll be sharing the musical talent on stage with the likes of Kanye West, AFI and more. Tickets go on sale to the public on July 15 for a daily ticket or a 3 day pass. But to avoid the cost of a full price, Dengue Fever is giving you the edge. Go to www.bumbershoot.org/presale and use the special access code: DENGUE and get it at a discounted price. Save anywhere from $7 to $20 on the daily and 3 day pass. The offer expires on Friday, July 14 @ 10pm. The festival runs from Labor Day weekend, Saturday 9/2 and Monday 9/4 at the Seattle Center. For more information go to www.bumbershoot.org

Kevin So is a busy busy man. From updating his website, prepping for his brother's wedding as the best man, to shooting a music video, and working on his "Love Suite" for the Continue Mixing CD he still finds time for his music and his fans. The shooting of the music video is aimed to be next Thursday. So watch out for it.
