Putnam Hall"I am conducting one hell of a punk rock experiment on my life,” says Lillard A., guitarist, singer, and primary songwriter of Putnam Hall. In July ’05, armed with an invigorated sense of punk rock attitude (think Rancid) and thoughtful, multifaceted songwriting (think No Doubt), Putnam Hall went back to the studio with fervor to surpass the success of “brandnudemusic.” The resulting five-song EP, “Love and Industry”, is a dynamic blend of throaty vocals, raw guitars, and pulsating rhythms that recall the frustration of being locked in a suburban lifestyle that's just not for everyone. In the meantime, listen to the songs on “Love and Industry” and hear the band’s sincere effort to fight for a life less ordinary, on iaList this Sunday. The son of Amartya Sen, celebrated activist and winner of the Nobel prize in economic science, seems to have some big shoes to fill. His choice of kicks is not to fight on such a political platform but rather through music. With his new full length debut album “Peaceful Solutions” picking up some speed and getting great reviews (Herald Tribuine, NPR, New Yorker, MTV DESI), he is a new star to watch.
